The recent media frenzy around Donald Trump’s election and entrance into the White House has made a lot of news and many people aren’t too happy about it. Within America, the president has the lowest approval rating of any incoming president of all time. That is a sign that many people are looking to not only get rid of Trump, but also get out of the United States.
When there is so much going on in the USA that people don’t like, it makes sense to get out. There are other reasons that might be even more important for the average American, however. In this article, we will explain how to get rid of a myopic world view and branch out beyond the USA.
A World Apart
Many people who are living in the western world have this false perception that the middle east is full of people and culture that is vastly different from their own. Most of the time, this simply isn’t true and it is important to see it with your own eyes. You might travel to a place that is moderate in views compared to other Islamic and middle-eastern countries. For example, your Dubai holiday would be filled with plenty of western luxuries and delicacies.
In the Arab world, many people no longer think of America, the West or even democracy as a problem. Instead, they are eager to learn from the west, trade ideas, and make new trade agreements that benefit everyone. Americans who have never experienced this side of the middle east are in for a rude awakening.
Moving Forward After Trump
Although one of the first moves that Trump made was to reduce the number of Syrian refugees that were allowed in the United States, it does not change that most Americans are are ignorant of where this country is or what they are dealing with! Most people couldn’t place Syria on a map and THAT is the real reason why Americans need to be traveling abroad and seeing more of the world.
It is easy to get caught up in Mickey Mouse and the American television shows that make it easy to consider the world revolving around this country, but it isn’t so.
As Trump has shown, it is going to take a monumental effort for Americans to get educated and start to make a difference when it comes to policy in the country.
